PAUL THOMAS is a former pupil of Abingdon School and a student of Jurisprudence at St Edmund Hall, Oxford University. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in law from Oxford University in 1981 and his Master of Arts in 1984. He went to Guildford Law School and began his legal career with the City of London firm Titmuss Sainer & Webb where he did his articles. Paul qualified as a solicitor in 1984 and remained with Titmuss Sainer & Webb for over 7 years.

Paul moved to another London firm in 1989 with another partner of Titmuss Sainer & Webb to set up a fraud and commercial dispute unit with Jeffrey Green Russell. His most well known case was the court of appeal decision relating to directors disqualification called Sevenoaks Stationers. He moved back to the City of London in 1991 and became a partner in the firm of Alsop Wilkinson which merged to become Dibb Lupton Alsop. Paul dealt with commercial disputes , insolvency issues , fraud related claims and supervised property litigation whilst with Alsop Wilkinson . His most famous cases were the Arrows litigation matters which went to the House of Lords and numerous tax cases involving the construction industry and the oil industry.

Paul left Dibb Lupton and became a Consultant with Quinn Melville in 1999. He deals with all types of commercial disputes , property matters and fraud related actions. He is very familiar with shareholders’ rights , partnership disputes, confiscation and injunction issues. He has a special advantage of having expertise in both civil and criminal law in respect of any matter involving alleged fraud , whether that is tax evasion or otherwise. Paul does not confine his work to the North West – he is often in the High Court in London where he has practised for over 20 years. He presently deals with high profile Judicial review applications, disputes between football agents , tax matters , libel cases and professional negligence .

The firm won a tender to act as an agent on behalf of the S.I.A. in North Wales as a result of new legislation requiring door supervisors , wheel clampers and security guards to be regulated. Paul is in charge of this agency work.
