Cathy Blackall

Cathy Blackall joined David Phillips & Partners in 1983 who sponsored her throughout her ILEX qualification. It was during this period that Cathy set up the specialised personal injury department with the support of a dedicated support team.

Cathy became a Member of the Institute of Legal Executives in 1991 and qualified as a Fellow in 1993.

In 1995 David Phillips and Partners demerged and Quinn Melville was established. Cathy remained with Quinn Melville and studied the Legal Practice Course part-time at De Montfort Universtity, Leicester. Cathy was admitted as a Solicitor in 1996 and joined Quinn Melville as a Partner that year.

In October 2005 Quinn Barrow was established as a tranche of Quinn Melville Barrow LLP and Cathy has remained as a Partner.

Cathy is a Member of the Law Society Personal Injury Panel and also a Member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.

Cathy heads a very successful Litigation Department which is supported by dedicated, efficient, conscientious and experienced personnel. We pride ourselves on the reputation of the Litigation Department which is illustrated by the level of clients who are referred by previously satisfied clients.

Damages have successfully been recovered for clients nationwide. Distance is no obstacle to pursuing a claim and we have access to a network of professional experts including Barristers, Accountants, Medical Consultants and Engineers by video conferencing.

We have negotiated refurbishment of clients’ homes where injury has resulted in disability, which has greatly improved their quality of life. In addition rehabilitation has been arranged and funded to assist with a client’s recovery from injury.

Unfortunately, an element of personal injury work also involves fatal injuries and Cathy’s team of Litigators are sensitive to the issues involved at such a particularly distressing time.

Damages have been recovered for clients who have been injured through work, whilst driving, as a result of assault/attack or for parents who have lost children (as a result of fatal accidents) or brain injured children. Damages have been successfully recovered ranging from a £1,000.00 to £1 million.

Cathy is an experienced Litigator and has successfully litigated and negotiated Commercial Disputes and has also achieved successful results through Alternative Dispute Resolution, for example, Mediation. In addition, Cathy has also sucessfully pursued compensation where clients have received professional negligent advice, for example, from previous solicitors.

We can offer “No win, no fee” agreements subject to risk assessment.
